As the first Slider Smartphone from Research in Motion (RIM), Blackberry Bold 9800, also known as Blackberry 9800 slider comes with a slide out QWERTY keyboard, a 5 megapixel camera, touchscreen, 4GB internal storage 512 MB RAM and Wi-Fi. It also comes with the latest Operating system from RIM- the Blackberry 6. It is also expected to come with a combination of the physical and virtual keyboard, making it a first from RIM, certainly set to cause a lot of interest from the Blackberry fans.

When it comes to the hardware, the device features a number of the aspects just like the other Blackberry devices. The one thing that stands out is the fact that the slide is smooth and comes with a good spring to it. Many of these features are similar to those of the Blackberry Storm 2, with the right convenience keys spotting a similar style and the keys next to the trackpad with a unified look. However, the keyboard is a little cramped forcing user to adjust their style a little bit. The virtual keyboard on the other hand is not only sharp but also responsive.
Some of the features that are missing in the Blackberry Bold 9800 include the convenience keys on the left side. One of the reasons why it was excluded is that the OS allows the users to turn the keyboard into shortcuts for application. The other missing feature is the charging contacts usually situated at the bottom of the Smartphone. On the other hand, the rubbery and ridged texture of the battery door offers users a solid traction when they open or close the slide.
When it comes to the OS, the Blackberry 6 comes with a wide variety of features designed to make the phone extra functional. The users are able to browse icons via sideways swipes and hide other using the downwards swipes. It comes with a universal search that covers web, local content, apps, emails, setups and menu items. However to complete some functions, such as switching between icon categories, users must complete the swiping gesture resulting to a delayed sensation.
With the OS, the users can also enjoy Social Feeds, which allows them to update multiple networks. The only problem is that they will encounter a redundancy in that when they open Social Feeds apps and filter into a specific network, they will need to launch that specific network’s app in order to carry out any interaction with it. On the bright side, it is not only nice but also robust thanks to the status updates and instant messaging.
Some of the features users will get to enjoy with the Blackberry Bold 9800 include an improved browser as compared to the old Blackberry browser. The multimedia features include a new podcast application, music player that has a facelift but with same functionality, a faster-loading thumbnails in the picture gallery with the pinch-to-zoom capability, and a distinct HVGA display for capturing their favorite videos.
With the different images of Blackberry Bold 9800 on the internet, all the fans have to do is to wait for it to hit the market.
